Fly of the Month

Nothing like 24" bluefish crashing this bait as I expereinced in this month. 

The fly uses two layers of foam so you can control the cant of the head in order to get the right pop. It also uses an extended tail for proper flotation. 

Hook: size 1/0 SL-11-3H

Tail: crystal flash and flshabou combined

Thread: White 400 denier

Body: White chenille and red ester

Overbody, two layers of 2 mm foam, choose your colors. 

Tying hint: glue the tail portion of the foam together before tying it on the fly. Then after the Head portion is tied on, glue the pieces together while holding it in the proper position. I also use a dab of UV finish for the tied head as a dam for the popping head.

Hook: size 1/0 SL-11-3H

Tail: super hair-camel with rootbeer crystal flash

shrimp eyes

Thread: Root Beer 210 Denier

legs: barred rootbeer silly legs, orange tipped silly legged

Body: orange ripple ice, 

burnt orange estaz for mouth,

1" Ep Tarantula Brush-Brown for body

Overbody, two layers of 2 mm foam, choose your colors. 

Tying Hint: When I'm done with the fly I turn it over, organize the tail, legs and eyes like I like them and then drop a bead of UV glue on the overbody tail underside so all of the materials stay in place and are conformal to the carapace.
